PLAYA POSTIGUET
Postiguet beach is located in the heart of the city of Alicante, at the foot of the Santa Bárbara Castle and next to the famous Paseo de la Explanada. It is one of the most loved beaches by the people of Alicante. The cozy Postiguet beach is ideal for taking a walk, letting the children have fun in the playground, sunbathing in the hammocks set up during the summer season and, of course, enjoying a swim.
CASTILLO DE SANTA BÁRBARA
The Castle of Santa Bárbara is located on the summit of Mount Benacantil, at an altitude of 166 meters. It is home to one of the largest medieval fortresses in Spain, from which you can perfectly see the bay of Alicante.
La Explanada de España
The Explanada de España is one of the emblems of the city of Alicante and runs parallel to one of the port quays. It is bordered on each side by rows of palm trees and the floor is decorated with 6,600,000 tricolor marble tiles that form a mosaic with a characteristic design that imitates the waves of the sea. La Semana Santa de Alicante
The light of Alicante that leaves impressions of unparalleled sunsets. Fogueres de Sant Joan
The Bonfires of San Juan are the biggest festivals in the city of Alicante. Declared of International Tourist Interest. They have their origin in the tradition of burning useless objects with the arrival of the summer solstice. The party officially starts on June 20 and lasts until the 29th of the same month. More than two hundred papier-mâché monuments (bonfires) with satirical themes are planted in the city.
Fuegos Artificiales
The five nights following the cremá de las Hogueras, from June 25 to 29, after the cremá de las monuments, the party continues with the fireworks contest at Playa del Postiguet. A large fireworks display is fired punctually at 00:00 from the Postiguet beach. Before midnight, people flock to take a place on the Postiguet beach and enjoy this light and sound show. Each castle lasts approximately a quarter of an hour.
Moros y Cristianos
The Moors and Christians festivities represent the struggle between the Muslim and Christian sides at the time of the Muslim invasion and domination of the Iberian Peninsula. Each side is made up of several comparsas or filaes, which carry out spectacular and colorful parades before symbolically confronting each other and taking the city for a day. They are one of the most deeply rooted popular festivals in the city of Alicante. They are held in five neighborhoods and their dates are spread throughout the year.
